Notes from June 12, 2019 Meeting

Dear Everybody,

Our regular awesome meeting featured member speaker Wendy Terrell, who has been behind the chair at Moxie Hair Studio since 2010. She obtained her license in 2005, and has been making people look so much better ever since.

Wendy said the industry has come full circle, and now has some wonderful new tools like flat irons and wands that she says allow her to be creative. She stated that there are new products and supplements being developed constantly, and she still loves what she does. We talked about her dual role as hair stylist and “psychologist.” Clients talk to her as she is working on their hair, and she is the carrier of many confessions and secrets.

Wendy has been married to David for 30 years and has three adult children, all of whom have presented her with cute grandchildren.

Brooke Schiavone, who is the speaker at our next meeting, told us that there has been a rash of jewelry store break-ins nationwide. Z’s always removes jewelry from their display cases and stores it in the vault when the store is closed. Thieves would find Z’s very frustrating to try to rob.

Brooke and Joe are holding a beach-themed “diamond dig” at their store June 24 -29 to benefit Valley View Community Food Bank. For a $25 donation, you can get a cup and scoop it full of sand. If you scoop up a CZ, you will be entered into a drawing for a real diamond. The food bank is critically low of canned goods and shelf-stable items right now, and the demand for help is terrific. Z’s Fine Jewelry will also be hosting a food drive. Every can helps somebody.

Natalie Stahl announced that her book Aisles for Miles: My Years as a Nuptial Concierge/Wedding Doula was being released June 14. (It has in fact been released, and is getting rave reviews from readers.) It is available on Amazon at https://amzn.to/2KrWcGQ. If you have already bought a copy and love it, please let Amazon know by leaving a review.

We adjourned at about 8:45 a.m., and slipped out into the world to fight again.

Best wishes,
Jody Serey
